This stove really does work well in the wind. I took it to Crown Point in the Columbia Gorge with sustained 45 mile wind to see how it worked. Had the stove up on a rock wall with no protection to the wind. The stove stared on first try and heated 1 liter of water to a rolling boil in 2.75 minutes. I then tried to get the wind to blow the stove out by pointing the stove into th... Read more

A dependable compact unit that full nests. Burns strongly in calm, wind, rain or sunshine. Boils quickly. I use it for backpacking into remote hunting areas mostly, but find it iseful for a quick cup of instant coffee at my workshop or even in my fishing boat.

Just returned from a trip in the Olympic National Forest. I let my neice use this stove while used my old Simmerlite. While I love my dependable Simmerlite, this is leaps and bounds a better system. Boil rate is lighting fast and The simple design and use of the pot is incredible.

The MSR cooking stove is a top notch bit of kit super fast boiling time. had several similar stoves. I would say as fast as the jet boil system ...The MSR stove does'nt have a in built igniter if that's a issue for for some but you won't miss it . Very easy to use.

We have used this stove in severe weather and on multiple camping trips. It has never failed us. Boils water fast and the burner temp can be controlled by the valve. The only complaint is that it is harder to light than we expected. I bought the msr pezio igniter and it will not light the stove. A lighter is your best bet and always works.

I hike mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Gold Country foothills and the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California.
It seems like it is always windy in those areas. I hate the sound of a backpacking stove’s flame being deflected by wind because it means wasted fuel. I don’t get that with this stove. The wind doesn’t seem to affect it at all
